Parent Workshop - Supporting Your Child's Development
We are pleased to announce an upcoming Parent Information Session focused on Supporting Your Child's Development, scheduled for Monday 19th May, at 13:30, in the 'Black Box' drama room.
This session is a follow-up to our well-received Term 1 information session and will offer a more interactive format. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with case studies and discussions, alongside the sharing of practical strategies and knowledge related to child development. This will allow for the exploration of common issues raised by parents and provide a forum for questions.
The session will be facilitated by Mrs Bukhari, our Deputy Head Pastoral and Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Junior School, and our Counsellors, Ms Grijalva and Mr Ahmed. Their combined expertise will offer valuable insights and practical tools to support parents in understanding and effectively nurturing their children's development both within and beyond the school environment. The session will include reviewing case studies and in-depth discussions aimed at highlighting and addressing issues faced by both children and parents.
If you wish to attend, please complete the registration form provided here. We look forward to welcoming you.
Poem of the Week
This week, our school community has been celebrating the power of positivity through poetry! For our new Poem of the Week initiative, ‘Smile’ captures the warmth, kindness and joy that fill our classrooms every day. Written to reflect the spirit of togetherness, ‘Smile’ reminds us how a simple smile can brighten someone's day and create a ripple of happiness throughout our school. We are excited to share this poem with you and hope it inspires everyone to spread a little more joy. Important Reminder - Junior School Arrival Times
We kindly remind all parents that Junior School pupils are expected to arrive at school no later than 8:00 AM, and by 7:55 AM on Thursdays.
We have observed a marked increase in late arrivals, which has a direct impact on both the individual pupil’s academic progress and the overall effectiveness of morning lessons.
We appreciate your support in upholding these expectations to ensure a punctual and productive start to the school day for all pupils.
Thank you for your continued cooperation.
Pizza Day
As a celebration of the pupils’ continued hard work this year, pizza will be provided during the brain break on Thursday 15th May.
If you would prefer that your child does not receive pizza, please inform your class teacher at your earliest convenience.
Celebrating the 43rd Anniversary of Sinai Liberation
As part of the 43rd anniversary of Sinai Liberation, Junior School students engaged meaningfully during their Arabic lessons. They explored the historical trajectory behind the celebration and followed a timeline of key events, highlighting the importance of the 25th of April in Egyptian history. In addition, they rehearsed Dalida’s iconic patriotic song “Helwa Ya Balady”, led and accompanied by the musician and composer Dr. Tarek Abbas, with the support of their Arabic teachers. The activity concluded with a special performance of the song in Arabic by each year group on the stage of the school’s theatre.
تطورات مسابقة الكتابة باللغة العربية

لقد قدّم العديد من الطلاب المسودة الأولى ويحصلون الآن على ملاحظات من معلميهم قبل تسليم المسودة الثانية.

Foundation Stage News
STEAM Week
Foundation Stage children participated in a number of experiments to learn about change through osmosis using some very ordinary items, eggs and vinegar. The experiments culminated in the ‘Great Foundation Stage Bounce Off’ when each class tested just how ‘bouncy’ their egg was after soaking it in vinegar for 48 hours. The winners were FS2S children, whose egg bounced 4 times - congratulations.
The children learnt just how strong the shape of an egg is - and how difficult it is to break an egg using just one hand - try it at home! The strength of the shape was also tested when one of the children stood on two boxes of eggs, and they supported his weight.
Your children may also be able to tell you how to get an egg into a flask when the rim of the flask is smaller than the egg. They may not yet know the scientific explanation for this phenomenon, but they enjoyed watching it! ‘When the air inside the bottle is heated, the molecules or tiny air particles inside the bottle spread out, increasing air pressure. As the air in the bottle cools, the air pressure decreases. The greater outside air pressure pushes the egg into the bottle. Blowing into the bottle raises the air pressure again.’

Foundation Stage 1 Launch their Boats
FS1 children used their swimming lesson to launch the boats they had made during their topic investigating different types of transport.

STEAM Week Activity in Arabic Lessons
During STEAM Week, FS children conducted a simple science experiment called “The Dancing Corn”. They were introduced to a basic scientific experiment in a fun and interactive way when they observed how corn kernels moved in reaction to using water, bicarbonate of soda and vinegar. The atmosphere was filled with excitement, curiosity and joy as students connected learning across subjects

Foundation Stage 2 Farm Trip
Last week, FS2 children had the opportunity to visit Sara’s Organic Farm. They particularly enjoyed feeding the friendly buffalo, hopping aboard for an exciting tractor ride and getting hands-on experience planting their own seedlings. The visit ended with a delicious lunch shared alongside their classmates.
