Junior School News
Year 6 Alamein Trip
Our Year 6 pupils recently enjoyed a memorable trip to El Alamein, where they explored key World War II sites, deepening their understanding of this significant chapter in history. The visit included the Commonwealth Cemetery, Italian and German memorials and the War Museum, where pupils showed great respect and curiosity as they reflected on the past. The days were also filled with moments of joy and connection—team-building activities, laughter and swims in the sea at a beautiful beachside hotel. Friendships grew stronger, confidence blossomed and memories were made that will last a lifetime. Staff were incredibly proud of the pupils’ outstanding behaviour, kindness and respect throughout. This journey not only enriched their understanding of history but also brought out the very best in them. It was, in every sense, a special chapter in their final year of Junior School. Thank you to everyone who supported us on the trip.

Celebrating Year 4 Poets
This half-term, we will be sending home our pupils' poems so you can enjoy the fantastic work they have produced in class. The structure of their writing was inspired by a poem called 'Seven Pebbles', which they studied closely before creating their own versions. The pupils experimented with poetic devices such as alliteration, metaphors, similes and more, to bring their ideas to life. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we enjoyed supporting their creativity.

Year 2 Exit Point: Ready, Steady, Grow!
Our Year 2 pupils recently celebrated the end of their “Ready, Steady, Grow!” topic with a special exit point event. The pupils proudly shared everything they had learned about plants and growth with their parents. Together, they enjoyed a hands-on activity exploring seed dispersal, discovering the many clever ways seeds travel to grow new plants. It was wonderful to see families engaged and excited about science and nature!

It was inspiring to see our older students supporting their younger peers and fostering a positive, welcoming school community.

Year 6: Writing Their Way to Senior School
In their final weeks at the Junior School, our Year 6 pupils have been showing incredible enthusiasm, teamwork and creativity in their English lessons. Working collaboratively, they have planned, drafted and polished some truly impressive pieces, from powerful poetry to short stories.
It has been a joy to see their confidence grow as writers, supporting one another with thoughtful feedback and sharing ideas with pride. As they prepare to move on to Senior School, their progress is a real testament to their hard work and love of learning. Well done, Year 6. The future is bright, and so are your words!

Cooking Club Host Master Chef Competition
This week, the Cooking Club held an extra-special ASA session to mark the grand finale of their culinary adventures – the Master Chef Competition!
Judged by the fabulous teachers: Ms Paget, Ms Fuschillo, Ms Wellington and Ms Racha, the event showcased an amazing array of dishes, from handmade noodles to beautifully decorated cakes and refreshing, delicious drinks. The judges were truly impressed by the skill, creativity and presentation on display.
A huge congratulations to our winner, Daniel Song, who wowed the judges with a perfectly baked cheesecake, and to runner-up Noor Khalifa, who impressed with a full menu of ramen, salad and a dessert!
More than just a competition, the event celebrated the hard work, independence and teamwork the pupils demonstrated throughout the term. We are incredibly proud of how they supported each other every week, even when it came down to a friendly face-off in the final round.

Blown Away! Wind Turbines and Writing Scientific Evaluations
Following their exciting Transition Day in the Senior School, Year 6 pupils continued working on their wind turbine experiment. This involved investigating how changing the distance of the hairdryer (used as a wind source) from the turbine affected the voltage produced.
Taking their learning further, pupils evaluated their experiments by identifying possible errors and suggesting improvements. This reflection not only deepened their understanding but also introduced them to key aspects of scientific inquiry. These skills will be essential as they move into the Senior School, where the science curriculum places a strong emphasis on practical work and scientific writing.
