IB News
Last weekend, our IBWise Workshops for Biology and Maths AI HL were a massive success! Students had the incredible opportunity to learn from expert IB examiners, who travelled from various parts of the world, specifically to support them. These specialists provided invaluable insights, exam techniques and personalised guidance; making the sessions highly beneficial for all who attended.
This weekend, we are excited to welcome IB experts for Physics and Business, once again bringing in global expertise to help our students refine their understanding and prepare effectively for their final exams. We look forward to another productive and engaging set of sessions!

Dr Omar Abdel Aziz - Talk to SS About Climate Change
Dr Omar Abdelaziz, a BISC parent and Assistant Professor of Thermofluids at the American University in Cairo, as well as a member of the United Nations Ozone Secretariat Techno-Economic Assessment Panel, delivered a powerful talk on climate change to BISC students. He provided valuable insights into the UN’s role in mitigating climate change and highlighted Egypt’s potential to lead sustainability efforts in Africa.
His thought-provoking discussion emphasised the urgency of global cooperation and the responsibility of young people in driving change. Inspired by his message that "there is no Planet B", students engaged in meaningful conversations, asking insightful questions and exploring ways to take action. His talk has set the stage for continued discussions in our after-school activities, from climate policy debates to inspiring future STEM ambassadors to contribute to a sustainable future.
We appreciated Dr Abdelaziz giving up his time to share his expertise with our students. We are keen for opportunities such as this to be a regular part of our students’ experience at BISC. If any other BISC parent would like to share their experience in STEM-related topics in a presentation or workshop event, please contact Mr Sagun at john.sagun@bisc.edu.eg or Mr Starkie, Head of Science, at anthony.starkie@bisc.edu.eg.

Year 10 Presentation on the Discovery of King Thutmose II’s Tomb During The Egyptian History Classes
Year 10 students conducted a research project on the discovery of King Thutmose II's tomb and explored its significance as one of the most remarkable archaeological discoveries of the modern era. Students Omar T and Hassan Z delivered a presentation to highlight the importance of this discovery, where they discussed King Thutmose II’s key achievements, described the current state of the tomb and analysed the reasons behind its condition.
The students also compared the tombs of Tutankhamun and Thutmose II, shedding light on their similarities and differences. During the presentation, Hassan Z showcased a video interview he conducted with Dr Yasser El-Shayeb, an expert in cultural heritage preservation and the coordinator of the Scan Pyramids project in 2015.
ِA special mention goes to Dania E, Ameena A, Seif T, Hussien E, Omar A, Seif E, Yassein A, Abdallah E and Mariam A for their dedication and hard work on this project.
