The BISC Newsletter 23rd January 2025
Above and Beyond
Activities this week remind us of how much BISC students do outside of the classroom. Trips abroad to represent the school in sporting competitions, myriad after school activities, and hard work behind the scenes to prepare for events such as the Pupil Leadership Conference should not go unnoticed. Well done to everyone who features in this week's review of a busy week for our BISCuits.
U15 BSME Games
There was a spectacular showing from our amazing athletes in this week's U15 BSME Games, held in Abu Dhabi.
Our unstoppable girls' football team kicked their way to the finals and grabbed an awesome 3rd place overall!
Seif AH won a silver medal in javelin and played beautifully in volleyball, earning himself MVP honours! Meanwhile, high jump hero Mohsen S leapt to a silver medal, while speedster Adam ES blazed into the 100m finals!
World School Games (WSG) Basketball
Our U16 boys’ and girls’ basketball squads performed brilliantly at the World School Games in basketball this week. Here is an interview recorded with our team captains Omar and Amena before the tournament began.
Our girls' team went all the way to the final, losing narrowly to claim a sensational 2nd place finish. Farida was also rewarded as Player of the Tournament.
As the event was streamed live on YouTube, you can enjoy replays of two of their performances on the links below:

Year 9 Options Fair
We are delighted to share the success of our recent Year 9 Options Fair. The event provided an invaluable opportunity for both students and parents to gain a deeper understanding of the diverse subject choices available as students prepare for the next stage of their academic journey.
Throughout the event, attendees participated in informative presentations by subject leaders, who highlighted the skills, knowledge and opportunities offered by their departments. Parents and students also had the chance to explore future pathways; discussing how various subjects align with career aspirations and further education.
We were thrilled with the turnout and engagement and we hope the evening inspired thoughtful decision-making. A huge thank you to our dedicated staff for their hard work organising the event, as well as to the parents and students for their enthusiastic participation.
If you missed the fair you can find the presentation here and the KS4 Options e-brochure here.
