As we approach the final week of the year, a plethora of exciting events await the BISC community. From a whole Senior School student breakfast, to end of year parties for Years 7 to 12 and graduation ceremonies for Foundation Stage 2, Year 6 and, of course, Year 13. It will be a busy and exciting week and a fitting end to a successful year at BISC.
BISC Graduation Class of 2024
The BISC stage looks magnificent and ready for the BISC Graduation Ceremony 2024, hosted by the Chairman. We look forward to welcoming our graduates and their families to BISC tomorrow.
There is a lot of anticipation as we look forward to our guest speaker this year, Sir Tim Berners-Lee.
Sir Tim Berners-Lee invented the most powerful communication medium in the world, the World Wide Web. His creation has already changed the way we communicate and connect. Details of his work were shared in last week’s Bulletin.

End of Year Examinations and Feedback
For the past two weeks, Year 7 to Year 12 students have been engaged in their end of year examinations; evaluating their studies across the course of the academic year. This represents an opportunity to celebrate the learning successes of each student, as well as identify areas for continued improvement. Students conducted themselves with a high degree of academic integrity and commitment to succeed; we are very proud of this attitude and congratulate them for their efforts.
On the final week of the academic year, starting Sunday 9th June, students will receive feedback on their performance during their lessons, by reviewing their examinations through engaging learning activities. As this is the most important aspect of the examination process, and to avoid an overfocus on outcomes, examination grades will be published only as part of the end of year reports, released next week.
Students must be present in their lessons to ensure that feedback is effective and personalised, and to have the opportunity to address any queries or concerns that they may have. Above all, we want this to be a positive and supportive learning experience for our students; setting them up for success in the next academic year.
Year 10 English Coursework
As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring our students are set up for excellence in their (I)GCSEs at the end of Year 11, we will be holding an IGCSE English Coursework Workshop next week for all Year 10 students, on Tuesday 11th June.
Year 10 students will spend the morning with their English teachers, reviewing key coursework pieces and acting on the feedback that they have been provided with. This will be the final opportunity for students to make improvements to these pieces and maximise important contributions to their final IGCSE English outcomes. We look forward to seeing a high level of engagement and improvement from all Year 10 students.
