Sixth Form Ramadan Boxes
Sixth Form students and the Senior School staff teamed up for a special cause, gathering items for charity boxes for refugees from Gaza.
This initiative aims to provide essential items, support and hope in challenging times. It is a testament to our students' compassion and global citizenship.
Thanks to all students and staff involved for their generosity and kindness. Let us continue to make a positive impact together!
Year 11 Biology
Some cranial pressure of Year 11 revision was released by conducting a sheep skull dissection this week. Students were able to make connections between the brain and other parts of the biology syllabus, such as endocrine and homeostatic functions, as well as the structure of the eye and how the brain can be studied. Well done to the students for getting hands-on and for not being squeamish! More photos here.
Year 10 Maths Project
Students in Year 10 have been completing a project on mathematical modelling with data taken from the test drive of a car. This has allowed them to work collaboratively and develop their IB learner skills.
Students initially looked at the comparison between the true speed of the car and the speed which was indicated by the speedometer, and modelled this data with a linear function. They then analysed data about braking distance and modelled this data with quadratic functions, consolidating their understanding of various topics from Year 9 and Year 10. Their final task was to present their findings in a written report. They saw the value in teamwork, as well as being open-minded, knowledgeable, curious and reflective - all vital skills to be a successful learner at GCSE, IB and beyond. Well done to all Year 10 students for their effort this week! We will announce the winners of the Best Project in next week's bulletin. More photos here.
Year 9 Maths Project Awards
Following last week’s highly successful statistics analysis project in Year 9, the awards for Best Project go to: Alia A, Noor E-A, Tia M, Farida M, Nour M, Farida S, Sarah AR, Hebatalla B, Louis D, Maya A-K, Eman H, Samiyya M, Chloe L and Carma Z. Year 8 English
Year 8 English students have begun their study of William Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' by completing research projects about the playwright's life, what it was like to live in Shakespearean times, his contribution to the modern English language, as well as details about his very famous Globe Theatre.

One of the highlights of the assembly was the song of “Ramdan Gana” which Chloe performed beautifully in Arabic. More photos here.
ECO Week
As part of Eco Week, the Junior School asks pupils to come to School wearing a ‘Junk to Funk’ outfit on Thursday 4th April. This could be a full costume or accessory (such as a hat, belt, or necklace) that is completely made out of recycled materials. Additionally, pupils have the option of wearing an outfit that portrays and promotes an ‘Eco Friendly’ or 'Green' message. In the past, we have had some amazing costumes.
During the day, the pupils will take part in a range of fun activities, aimed at increasing awareness of our responsibilities as a school that cares deeply for the environment and sustainability, as well as discussing steps and ideas we can take to become more ‘Green’.
Swimming Classes in Term 3
Please see the timetable below for Junior School swimming lessons in Term 3. It is very important that all pupils bring a swim cap and slippers/swim shoes in a swim bag for their swimming classes. All jewellery should be removed on PE days.
In Term 3, pupils in Years 1 and 2 will focus on:
- Water safety and confidence.
- Swimming on their front and back in a streamline position.
- How to dive, skull and float in different shapes.
Pupils in Years 3-6 will learn how to:
- Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 meters.
- Use a range of strokes effectively such as front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke.
- Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
- Demonstrate water safety knowledge, including the dangers of open water and how to respond in an emergency.
- Understand the principles of personal survival, including floating and treading water.
- Understand how to be safe in and around water, including how to recognise hazards and how to call for help in an emergency.
These requirements are designed to ensure that pupils have the necessary skills and knowledge to stay safe in and around water, in addition to being able to enjoy swimming as a lifelong skill.

Foundation Stage One
Foundation Stage 1 staff started the preparation for the annual FS1 production. We have spent time in the Theatre, auditioning all the children to ensure that everyone has a suitable role. The production is entitled 'A Night in the Library' and will be performed on Wednesday 5th June - please put this date in your diary.
Meanwhile, the children have been making patterns, as well as identifying patterns, in the natural world.
Foundation Stage Two
The progress of Foundation Stage 2 children during their PE lessons is pleasing. They work hard to enhance their coordination and control through various activities and exercises.
During their recent indoor class, the children actively participated in dance activities, practising their balancing skills and creating different shapes. They used different apparatus, including balance beams and benches, to further improve their physical abilities.
During their outdoor session, the children participated in team relay games, showcasing their listening skills, spatial awareness, and counting abilities. The children's speed and agility were particularly impressive, making it evident that they put a lot of effort into their PE lessons.
