Senior School Class & Individual Photos
Ramadan Kareem to all our families who are celebrating. The start of Ramadan has meant an tweaked timetable in the Junior School, which children have adapted to easily. A gentle reminder that the school day starts at 07:55 and the children should be collected at 14:30.
The ASAs for term 3 are now open for selection, so please ensure you make your choices on the Engage platform. You can see the options here.
It has been delightful to see the range of cross-curricular learning which has taken place as part of our curriculum this week, some examples of which included both Music lessons and Design and Technology lessons linked to the Humanities themes. The children are working hard to reach their personal learning targets.
Key Stage 2 Assembly
More pictures available here.
3K and 3D Assembly
Well done to 3D and 3K for their wonderful assembly today on caring and kindness. More photos can be viewed here.
Year 4 Art
Students in Year 4 had fun in the Art room today, learning to mould and work with clay.
Year 5 Drama
Working with costume and props, our Year 5 students clearly had lots of fun with Ms Ayers in Drama class today.
Music Awards
The Music Department at BISC offers a wide range of instrumental lessons to hundreds of students on a wide variety of instruments. As part of this programme, students are offered the opportunity to take Trinity London Music Exams. This not only measures their progress but gives them something to work towards and a sense of achievement. We are delighted that five of our Junior students recently passed exams in drums, piano and voice. Here they are proudly showing their certificates. Congratulations to them all and good luck to all those taking exams in the upcoming May examination season.
Accelerated Readers
This is a gentle reminder that children should not be completing their AR reading quizzes at home. Parents can view their child’s progress using the details provided during Parent-Teacher conferences.
ASA Term 3 Options - Open Now
The ASA portal opened on Tuesday and information for each ASA can be found below. As per last term, these are on a first-come-first-served basis.
PE Lessons During Ramadan
Please note that we have adapted our PE lessons to account for Ramadan. In all years from FS1 - Year 6, pupils are doing a series of Skills Tests that help us see what areas each student needs to work on in the future.
In FS1 - Year 2, these cover throwing, catching, bouncing, dribbling, running, jumping, rolling and balancing. In Years 3 - 6 we are focusing on agility, balance and coordination. These skills are tested during lessons, alongside playing and learning about games such as badminton, volleyball, table tennis, golf and cup stacking.
Such games can be adapted to play without expending too much energy. Please support us by always sending your child in PE kit. If they are fasting, we can help them adapt their energy output and conserve their energy, whilst still developing their skills.
Junior Swimmers
In the recent Swimming Gala at BISC, our Junior swimmers did very well. Layal took bronze with her 3rd place finish in the 50m backstroke. The boys' Medley relay team (Ahmed K, Karim E, Osman G and Charlie) gained bronze and the girls' team (Maryam K, Eleanor, Hannah T, Layal and Maria) came 3rd Overall. We look forward to the next Gala on May 12th.

Words of the Week
Below are the words of the week that we've been learning in Junior School.
Junior School Class & Individual Photos
Junior School class and individual photos are taking place on Monday 10th - Wednesday 12th April. Please mark the dates on your calendar. More information will be shared nearer the time.
Junior School STEM Week
The first week back after the Easter Holidays will mark the start of STEM week. During this week the children will work on a creative Maths enterprise where they will advertise, make and sell a project on Sunday and Monday, followed by Science activities for the remainder of the week.
The fun, engaging and informative activities in Science and Maths will evolve around the topic 'Connections'. The children will learn about and discuss how connections are made between people, plants, animals, materials, countries and other things in their everyday lives, and will make connections within their class, our school and the wider community.
All classes will be invited to Dress as a Scientist on Thursday 4th May.
Uniform Shop
Kindly be informed that the Uniform Shop in BISC will be open from 08:00 till 14:45 during Ramadan.
Keeping our students safe online is a priority at BISC. We are happy to share advice from the NOS (National Online Safety), to enable parents to understand the pros and cons of various social media, games and digital trends.
This week's advice is about the popular construction game of Minecraft.
