Ramadan Kareem
The school would like to wish everyone in the community a peaceful and joyous Ramadan, which is a time for reflection, family and community.
A reminder that school will continue to start at 07:55 but will finish at 14:30 to reflect the significant religious and cultural significance of this period. No after school activities will take place except necessary academic support sessions for our GCSE and IB examination groups.
BISCMUN X
We are happy to report the great success of the tenth annual session of BISCMUN.
BISCMUN X hosted over 260 delegates, chairs, admins and directors, making it our largest conference yet. We received schools from Cairo and Alexandria including CAC, AIS, Al Alsson, Heritage International School and CISE, and delegates expressed their appreciation of the high quality debate in our five committees (SC, HRC, UNFPA, FAO, and SDC).
Our guests were particularly impressed with the smooth organisation and execution of the conference. Many BISC students received 'Best Delegate' and 'Honourable Mention' awards as we raised the benchmark for MUN conferences around Egypt.
Thank you to our brilliant student secretariat, Abdelrahman (Deputy Secretary-General), Youssef (Deputy-President), Maya (Head of OC), Salma (Head of AC), Aly (Head of Media and Communication), Nevine (Secretary-General), Dana (President) along with MUN Director, Ms Lara Adly. Key Stage 3 Wellbeing Day
We were delighted to hold our first KS3 Wellbeing Day on Tuesday. The day consisted of a number of sessions to support the wellbeing of students and to teach a range of strategies and activities that would encourage positive wellbeing. The students engaged in and enjoyed a range of activities such as yoga, badminton, team building exercises, fruit kebab making, dancing, singing and planting. It was wonderful to welcome parents into school to join their children in a number of sessions such as ‘walk and talk’, ‘scribble the stress away’ and a mindfulness lesson. The students thoroughly enjoyed the day. All photos from the day can be seen on this link.

The students had so many great ideas about the world of fashion and how to create a sustainable future within this business. Congratulation to Loulwa in Year 9 who won a medal at her recent gymnastics competition.
The Junior Band and soloists from Year 6 presented a wonderful performance in the theatre on Monday afternoon. Maryam started the concert with an assured performance of Woodpecker on piano, followed by Natalie, who sang the song Dandelions with confidence. Nour then took the stage playing a solo on trombone, with Mona then singing Believer with a strong tone. Rasheed had the audience spellbound with his atmospheric rendition of the theme from Interstellar then Rihanna and Kinda raised the roof with their singing of Rihanna’s Diamond, followed by Malak with a groovy Euphonium solo of Hard Rock Blues. The Junior Band, now numbering over 40 players, played three songs to resounding applause from an appreciative audience. Karma gave a sensitive performance of Doe a Deer followed by Rodaina on Euphonium playing My Dreydl with a lovely rounded sound. Layal’s pure voice was perfectly suited to the song Soldier, Poet, King and Mohamed S. raised a cheer from everyone as he rounded off the concert with a “wicked” performance of drums of Beggin’. Word of the Week
Below are the words of the week that we've been learning in Junior School.
Junior School ASAs in Term 3
Please note that the Parent Portal will be open from Tuesday 28th March at 15:00 in order to select choices for next term.
You can see the full list of ASAs available in this useful e-brochure we have produced:
Like Term 2, this will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents may find that an option has been added automatically for you on a select day. This is due to being high on the waiting list from Term 2. If you do not wish to choose this option, please remove it from your selection.
A letter will be sent to all Y2-6 parents with all information in the next few days.

Junior School STEM Week
The first week back after the Easter Holidays will mark the start of STEM week. During this week the children will work on a creative Maths enterprise where they will advertise, make and sell a project on Sunday and Monday, followed by Science activities for the remainder of the week.
The fun, engaging and informative activities in Science and Maths will evolve around the topic Connections. The children will learn about and discuss how connections are made between people, plants, animals, materials, countries and other things in their everyday lives, and will make connections within their class, our school and the wider community.
All classes will be invited to Dress as a Scientist on Thursday 4th May.
Uniform Shop
Kindly be informed that the Uniform Shop in BISC will be open from 8:00am till 2:45pm during Ramadan.
Student Achievements
Sarah B in Year 3 gained a medal in a triathlon/running event in El Sokhna.
Farida G in Year 5 won a gold medal in the Cairo Aerobic Gymnastic competition.
Children in Foundation Stage have had a busy week making Mother's Day and Ramadan crafts.
In FS1, we have read many stories about kindness and the importance of caring for others. During circle time, the children have been sharing good deeds that they do at home, and we have looked at the importance of looking after one another. Many of the FS1 children decided that they wanted to give their old toys and clothes to children in need, which was lovely to hear.
The children in F2F have had a great week creating Mother's Day cards and gifts and preparing for the beginning of Ramadan. Last week we had two visitors to the class to talk about their jobs in the community. A restaurant owner and an artist. The children created maps of a community and continue to learn about the different communities they are part of including the countries that they are from.
In F2H this week the children have been busy making clay heart shaped pots and cards for Mother's Day.
Keeping our students safe online is a priority at BISC. We are happy to share advice from the NOS (National Online Safety), to enable parents to understand the pros and cons of various social media, games and digital trends.
This week's advice is about the abstract concept of the Metaverse.
