Senior School ASA Options for Term 1
At The British International School, Cairo we offer a wealth of diverse and engaging enrichment activities to our pupils at every stage of their education. From academic enrichment activities, to sport and arts clubs, our enrichment activities promote fun, teamwork and a commitment to learning and self-improvement.
Our clubs are provided by either our own teaching staff or qualified coaches and these change every term providing our pupils with a range and choice of activities.

In this activity, students will look at global sustainability issues, with a particular focus on issues in Egypt. As part of the group, students will create initiatives and campaigns that will directly impact our BISC community through various ways. This is a creative and collaborative group for students in KS3 who want to change the world!

Ever wondered about Amelia Earhart's disappearance, or the real identity of Jack the Ripper? Does the Loch Ness Monster actually exist? In this ASA we will take a look at some of the unsolved, creepy and fun mysteries that still exist within the History community. The COBIS Poetry Competition is a brilliant opportunity for young writers in COBIS member schools to compete internationally and showcase their talent. Even if you don't wish to enter, this ASA is a fantastic opportunity for you to practice your poetry or learn a new skill. This ASA will also support you with your studies in poetry, whatever your age group.

A chance for students in Years 7-13 interested in STEM disciplines to work on a practical project, chosen by themselves, but supported by teachers and student ambassadors. Students may want to involve themselves competitively to try to win an award or put their project on their UCAS application. Others can engage just for fun.

Trading (Business and Economics)
Practice your trading skills! This is a student-led ASA in which you will work with the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania to enter the International Paper Trading Competition for high school students called 'The Wharton Global High School Investment Competition'. This competition involves students aged 14-18 working in groups of four to seven to manage a virtual portfolio of $100,000.This ASA could be highly beneficial for students wishing to apply to U.S universities. Trading also involves analysing market trends, which will help develop valuable research skills.

An opportunity for GCSE and IB students to work with support to refine and complete their practical coursework projects to the highest level. It is also an opportunity to develop work for the COBIS Art Competition on the theme 'Magical Moments'.

In this activity, students will review Spanish grammar and vocabulary at an advanced level. We will focus on productive skills (writing and speaking) This is most appropriate for students in KS4 or KS5 Spanish B.

In this activity Year 13 Math and physics students will consolidate and refine their IA projects.

CREST (Creativity in Science and Technology) Awards
A chance for students in Years 9-13 interested in STEM disciplines to work on a practical project, chosen by themselves, but supported by teachers and student ambassadors. Students may want to involve themselves competitively to try to win an award or put their project on their UCAS application. Others can engage just for fun.

In this activity students will learn to how to play chess and be able to play against each other.

Discover the wonders of the universe with our Astronomy Society. Dive into the basics of the cosmos, explore stars, planets, and galaxies, and ignite your passion for space in a fun, welcoming environment.

A great opportunity for Sixth Form students to focus on mental and physical wellbeing, with a weekly yoga practice session.

Wellbeing Ambassadors
This ASA will be for elected Wellbeing Ambassadors; students will be invited. The Wellbeing Ambassadors are a group of student leaders who promote, support and encourages student wellbeing in the Senior School. The Wellbeing Ambassadors meet on a weekly basis to discuss activities that support the whole school community.

Musical Production
Students will rehearse for the BISC Production that they will perform to a live audience in the main theatre in March. In rehearsals, they will be developing their acting skills, learning choreography and learning songs. Students involved in the musical will need to commit to the Monday and Wednesday rehearsals until March. Both days are compulsory.

Sets and Costumes
This is a chance to use your creative skills and contribute to the biggest show of the year, the school musical. You will work on set and costume designs for the whole cast.
